A Continuing Series

HALL, 30, is the youngest defense lawyer. He graduated from the University of Florida Law School in 1968, spent two years clerking for a federal judge, then entered private practice. He has been with Frate's firm for 2 ½ years.
Hall's practice has consisted almost entirely of trial work, with an emphasis until recently on civil cases. Among his biggest victories, he says, was a case in which, representing Miami-area landowners, he defeated attempts to impose rent controls.
Hall has been busy for the past two months, flooding the courts with motions and petitions to have the cover-up trial delayed-almost as many as his fellow defense lawyers combined. Like every other defense lawyer, he has generally been rebuffed, from Sirica through the Supreme Court.
He is aggressive and argumentative-and, some of his fellow lawyers say, sometimes abrasive. He engaged in some of the most pointed cross-examination in the Ellsberg burglary case, something which will undoubtedly become a major feature of the cover-up trial.
