Vanessa Palacio earned her juris doctor, summa cum laude, at the University of Miami, where she was inducted into Alpha Epsilon Lambda Graduate Honors Fraternity and received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Marine Ecology and the Law. During law school, Ms. Palacio interned for Circuit Judge Antonio Arzola at the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida; tried criminal cases and handled post-conviction relief matters at the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office; and drafted appeals to the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. She also earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology, English Literature, and Political Science from the University of Miami on a full scholarship.


Committed to the South Florida community and public service, prior to joining Hall, Lamb and Hall, Ms. Palacio worked for Miami-Dade County as a legislative aide to Commissioner Rebeca Sosa during her term as Chairwoman of the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners, and was involved in the development of legislation on a wide range topics, including climate change, sea level rise, land use, the historic Miami-Dade County courthouse, reducing recidivism, and human trafficking. During her time with County government, Ms. Palacio also drafted legislation comprehensively rewriting Chapter 15 of the Miami-Dade County Code, as well as policies and procedures to be implemented regarding the County’s troubled special taxing districts.
